I Am Thankful For: Nature, Home, Friendship, Laughter & My Sight

Many times in our lives we experience certain things that cause us pain or sorrow which can leave us with the feeling of hopelessness. We all have been there. 

I've found, that every once and a while if I reflect on the things that I am thankful for and on the blessings in my life, that I can suddenly see just how truly wonderful my life is!
That being said, I've decided to jump on the "I am thankful for" trend and share with you my happy blessings. 

This year, I am thankful for...

NATURE - I’m thankful for nature’s many splendors all year long, but especially during the fall when all the beautiful leaves are turning, and the smells of first rain and crisp air surround me. I often find myself happier when I am outside during the fall. 

MY HOME - I am thankful for my home. It keeps me warm and safe and is filled with new memories each and every day. A home can easily be taken for granted, and am truly blessed to have a place to call home.

LAUGHTER - I am thankful for laughter as it truly is the best medicine. I love hearing my younger boys giggling with delight, and I enjoy the funny things they say that make me laugh.

FRIENDSHIP - I am thankful for my friends both near and far, whether they are my very close friends or simply an acquaintance.

MY SIGHT - I am thankful for my sight. I love being able to see all the beautiful colors of the world, and the gift of  being able to watch my children grow.

Patina Bird Personalized Mommy Necklace


 Hello, Jewelry Lovers! It's Shauna from Momma Candy with my favorite Whole Soul Jewelry piece of the week!

 So we all know about mommy necklaces, right? A few years ago when they first became really popular they were made up of a few classic round disks with some initials or names of our kids. I loved mine!

 What's not to love? You get to wear your babies' names around your neck. But as more and more mommies started wearing these necklaces, I started seeing them everywhere. 

 Then I started seeing something different. I started noticing unique mommy necklaces that were hand stamped and even rustic and trendy. I loved them! And I found them at Whole Soul Jewelry!

So unique and so cute! I love the bird because I call my son my Blackbird and I used to call my daughter Lola-bird when she was a baby. It doesn't hurt that this patina bird charm is so pretty!

 This necklace is even more unique because it's hammered and intentionally antiqued. The brass drop shape disk can hold up to eight letters and the teal stone matches the patina bird. Personalization makes my day!

Hello, Everyone! It's Shauna again from Momma Candy. I hope you're enjoying your version of fall whether it be in an actual fall with colorful leaves and cool weather or eighty degree temps and flip flops like me. I bake pumpkin bread to make up for it.

 So as I was perusing through the beautiful pages of the Whole Soul Jewelry website, I clicked on the New Arrivals page to see what kind of things I needed to put on my Christmas list. 

 The first piece I saw was unlike any other piece of jewelry I'd ever seen. And because I love meaningful, unique jewelry, of course I love this piece.

How much did you need this advice?

 I absolutely love the message and I love the hammered style of the bracelet, too. It's sterling silver and personalized so each piece is unique and one of a kind. Imperfectly perfect.

 I think what I like most about this custom bracelet is that it's for everyone. No matter what you're going through in life and no matter what you've been through in the past, this hand stamped bracelet is a good bit of advice to grace your wrist or the wrist of someone else who might need this at just the right moment.

Food For Thought - Roasted Garlic Mushroom Recipe

Every once and a while, I stumble across an image of something edible online that I wish I could grab right out of the screen and eat! 

I thought I might share with you something other than jewelry related today.

This....happening right now, as I type. Oh, if you could only smell this kitchen....



 ROASTED GARLIC MUSHROOMS

 Ingredients: 

  • 16 even-sized open cup mushrooms, stalks cut 
  • 3 tbsp corn or vegetable oil 
  • 1/4 c unsalted butter, softened 
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped very finely 
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped 
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 c fresh breadcrumbs 
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste 

Directions: 

  • Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas mark 6.
  •  Lightly fry the mushrooms, cap-side down, in hot oil for 20 seconds. 
  • Arrange the mushrooms in a shallow roasting tin with the stalks facing upwards. 
  • Mix together the butter, garlic, thyme, lemon juice and seasoning. 
  • Spoon a little garlic butter on to each mushroom, then lightly press the breadcrumbs on top. 
  • Either refrigerate for later use, or cook immediately in the oven for 10 minutes.
